Reflexology & Remedial Massage
Services
Touch has been used throughout the world for thousands of years to relax the body and
mind and restore health and wellness. When you are in pain, whether caused by a physical
injury or emotional turmoil, your ability to function in day-to-day life is affected. Pain
distracts, making it difficult to focus and think clearly. Movement can become restricted by
pain and sleep can be disrupted, with fatigue making it more difficult to concentrate.
Every situation is different and your experience of pain is individual to you. I listen to you
and assess your needs to tailor the treatment to achieve the best results for you. The
session may include a combination of therapies using Swedish and Remedial Massage
techniques, together with stimulating Reflexology points to enhance the effectiveness of
your treatment. As part of the client-therapist relationship, I offer existing clients the option
of home, hospital or palliative visits at times when they are too ill or infirm to attend my
clinic.
Clinical Foot Reflexology ... to induce deep relaxation, restore and maintain
harmony in the body
Reflexology is more than a simple foot massage. It is a deeply relaxing treatment with benefits that can
be felt throughout the body. Various techniques are used that include holds, finger pressure, kneading,
rotation and rubbing. Reflexology can be a good treatment choice if you want to keep your clothes on
during a massage. It is also a good choice if you are pressed for time and don’t want to get oil on your
body or in your hair. (more info)
Swedish Relaxation Massage ... ease muscle tension for blissful relaxation
Swedish Massage is the most common and best-known type of massage. Also known as Relaxation
Massage. If it’s your first time for a massage or you don’t get massage very often, Swedish massage is
the perfect massage for you. (more info)
Remedial Massage ... for treatment of a muscle injury, chronic or acute pain and
headaches
Remedial Massage uses both light and deep massage strokes to treat areas of muscle tension and
spasm within the body caused by stress or injury. The massage strokes encourage tension to be
released from the body and the blood circulation to the affected area and the body as a whole to be
increased.
Hot Stone Massage ... warmth penetrates deeply to help you feel better and recover
faster
Heated volcanic stones can be used in two ways during your Hot Stone Massage. Firstly, by using
placement stones the heat radiates into the muscle tissue to soften any tightnesses. While this is
happening, other heated stones will be used to massage. The heat increases blood flow, stimulating
circulation for optimum oxygen supply and body cleansing.
Reflexology is a form of massage therapy based on the principle that there are
reflexes in the feet, hands and ears which correspond to every part, gland and
organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the
use of tools, crèmes or lotions reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation
and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body.
What Reflexology can do for you:-
•
Reflexology relieves stress and tension
•
Reflexology improves blood supply and promotes
the unblocking of nerve impulses
•
Reflexology improves lymphatic supply
•
Reflexology encourages elimination of wastes
•
Reflexology helps your body rebalance naturally
What Reflexology won’t do for you:-
•
Reflexology does not diagnose
•
Reflexology does not prescribe or adjust medication
•
Reflexology does not treat for a specific condition
•
Reflexology does not claim to cure
Studies have shown that massage can be used to successfully treat a variety
of disorders, including anxiety, back or neck pain, headache, soft tissue
injuries, depression and high blood pressure.
One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and
calm. This occurs because massage stimulates the release of endorphins;
chemicals in the brain that produce feelings of wellbeing. Massage also
reduces levels of stress hormones. Studies indicate that high levels of stress
hormones impair the immune system.
Some of the physical benefits of massage include:
•
Reduced muscle tension
•
Improved circulation
•
Stimulation of the lymphatic system
•
Reduction of stress hormones
•
Increased joint mobility and flexibility
•
Improved skin tone
•
Reduced anxiety and depression.
Massage can also improve muscle tone and delay muscle atrophy brought on
by inactivity.
